My name is Valerie Ward, but most call me Val. I was born and raised in Newport, Tennessee, surrounded by rolling hills, vast fields, and clear blue skies. From an early age, I was always drawn to poetry and spent much of my time scribbling in notebooks and composing poems. It was my way of discovering the world around me.
My parents were hardworking folks who instilled in me the value of family and community. They encouraged me to pursue my passions and follow my dreams, even when it meant stepping outside of our small town.
After graduating from the University of Tennessee, my husband and I decided to take a leap of faith and move to Billings, Montana where he had been offered a great job opportunity. It was a big change, but I was excited to explore a new part of the country and see where life would take us.
Over the years, I’ve worked various teaching jobs to support my family, but writing has always been my true passion. I’ve spent countless hours crafting poems and stories, hoping to one day share them with the world. Thus, Poems About Everything was born to finally start sharing them.
Now, as an empty nester, I’m still working towards my goal of becoming a published author. I may not have all the answers, but I’m determined to keep pushing forward and making my dreams a reality.
When reading through the articles of my new blogging journey some poems are finished and some are still being tweaked. Feel free to offer constructive feedback or just leave a positive comment by emailing me at val [at] poemsabouteverything *dot* com.
